Bajasseum I Zirkusmuseum

Alsenborn is known across the Palatinate as the home of the tightrope walkers, and its residents are still teasingly called Bajasse. This circus museum traces how, amid the hardships of the 19th century, local families travelled as musicians, puppeteers and acrobats and lived off their summer earnings through the winter. It recalls the heyday between 1870 and the First World War, when artist families such as Traber, Althoff and Rosenberg were part of village life. The displays are arranged by era and lead from the present back into the past.
