Designed by Frank Gehry and opened in 2005, this contemporary art museum is as much a draw for its building as for what hangs inside. It links art with design and architecture, fitting for Herford's furniture-making tradition; the name Marta stands for furniture, art and ambience. It lies about 300 metres from the railway station.
