Wikinger-Museum Haithabu

Busdorf, Schleswig-Holstein

On the shore of the Haddeby Noor, this museum presents finds from Hedeby, the early medieval settlement destroyed in 1066. Highlights include the wreck of the longship Haithabu 1, recovered from the harbour, and the four Hedeby runestones. About 600 metres south, on the settlement site itself, an open-air museum has seven reconstructed houses showing how the inhabitants lived.
