Wendener Hütte
Wenden, Nordrhein-Westfalen
This old ironworks and hammer mill in the Sauerland village of Wendenerhütte dates from 1728, before industrialisation took hold. Its blast furnace ran until 1866, and the complex counts among the oldest surviving blast furnace sites in Germany. Visitors can walk the whole site and see how iron was made and worked in this part of the region.
