Wannenmacher-Museum
Emsdetten, Nordrhein-Westfalen
For centuries, wannen, a type of woven basket, shaped the economy of Emsdetten, and this house tells that story. It is a basket-maker's home from 1875, moved to its present site, with furnished rooms such as the kitchen, the Sunday parlour and the workshop showing how the family lived and worked. Themed displays cover the basket-maker's craft, products and trade, the use of the baskets in farming, and spleiten, the communal work of splitting.
