Velvarská brána

Slaný, Středočeský kraj

The Velvarská Gate is the only surviving gate of Slaný's medieval town walls, standing a short walk north of Masaryk Square. It is first mentioned in 1443, and the year 1461 is carved on its south wall. The tower is part of the Slaný regional museum and holds a bell from 1514, moved here after a fire at the town hall.
