Synagoge Dornum

Dornum, Niedersachsen

This small brick synagogue on Kirchstraße is the only one in East Frisia to survive largely in its original state. The Jewish community used it from 1841 until November 1938. Today it serves as a memorial and Jewish museum. You can see the prayer hall with its wooden barrel ceiling and the women's areas, divided off by a timber partition with lattice-work.
