Stasi-Bunker Lübschützer Teiche

Machern, Sachsen

In the woods north of Machern stands a Stasi bunker built between 1968 and 1972 as an emergency command post in case of war. It was never used for that purpose and was disguised as a holiday camp belonging to a Leipzig utility company. The site covers 5.2 hectares, with about 1,500 square metres of bunker rooms. Visitors see the fenced security zones and the bungalows that served as cover.
