Stary Cmentarz Żydowski we Wrocławiu

Wrocław, dolnośląskie

Opened in 1856 on Ślężna Street, this historic Jewish cemetery now serves as a museum of funerary art. About 12,000 gravestones stand across 4.6 hectares, many richly decorated, along with ornate tombs, some in Moorish or Egyptian style. A walk here shows how different it is from the Jewish cemeteries of Eastern Europe. It lies south of the centre, away from the Old Town.
