Stadtmuseum Wasungen

Wasungen, Thüringen

The first floor of a former noblewomen's foundation house, built in 1596 on the remains of a fortified residential tower in the town wall, holds Wasungen's local history museum. Parts of the old chamber wing and the wall are built into the house. The permanent exhibition opens with the town's history in nine themes, including its founding, town rights and a model of the town around 1680. The collection goes back to local history work begun in 1965.
