Stadtmuseum Marktoberdorf

Marktoberdorf, Bayern

Eighteen rooms on about 380 square metres trace how the village of Oberdorf grew into a market town and then into Marktoberdorf. The tour starts with Roman and Alemannic life, moves through the era under the Prince-Bishopric of Augsburg and runs up to the 20th century. Further rooms cover art, theatre and music, times of crisis, and the working and daily lives of women. A particular focus is the shift from craft to industry, shown through trades and firms such as the Fendt family, with locks, tower clocks and farm machinery.
