Stadtgeschichtliches Museum der Hansestadt Wismar

Wismar, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern

Wismar's city history museum is housed in the Schabbellhaus, a Renaissance building of about 1569 to 1571 by the Schweinsbrücke. The brewer and later mayor Hinrich Schabbell had it built as a home, business premises and brewery. Its stepped gable with Dutch Renaissance echoes and the two portals bearing the couple's coats of arms are worth a look in themselves.
