Schüttesäge-Museum

Schiltach, Baden-Württemberg

The old Schüttesäge sawmill in Schiltach, first mentioned in 1491 and worked until 1931, is now a museum on forestry, tanning and timber rafting in the upper Kinzig valley. Its undershot water wheel, 7.2 metres across, still drives the transmission machinery. The displays also show how important rafting was to the town's income until the 19th century.
