Schloss Sigmaringen

Sigmaringen, Baden-Württemberg

The Hohenzollern castle stands on a limestone crag above the Danube, once the residence of the princes of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen. After a fire in 1893 it was rebuilt, with only the towers of the medieval fortress surviving. In the last months of the Second World War it briefly housed the Vichy French government. The castle and its museums can be seen on guided tours.
