Schloss Rosenau

Zwettl-Niederösterreich, Niederösterreich

West of Zwettl in the Waldviertel, Schloss Rosenau grew from a farmstead into a Renaissance castle in the 16th century and was rebuilt in baroque style after plans by Joseph Munggenast in the 18th century. Rooms were also fitted out there for a Masonic lodge. Around the castle the estate village survives almost intact, with its farm buildings, forester's house, ribbon weaving mill and parish church.
