Schloss Linderhof
Ettal, Bayern
Deep in the Ammergau Alps, King Ludwig II had this royal villa built in neo-Rococo style. It is the smallest of his palaces and the only one finished in his lifetime. Rooms to see include the bedroom, dining room and Hall of Mirrors. In the gardens, the Flora fountain throws up a tall jet, and an artificial Venus grotto awaits. Linderhof became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2025.
