Schloss Asparn

Asparn an der Zaya, Niederösterreich

A castle in the Weinviertel holds finds from prehistory and the early Middle Ages. The Museum of Prehistory has been here since 1970, joined in 2014 by a museum of early history and medieval archaeology. The castle dates back to the 13th century and has two massive corner towers from the 15th century, one with two oriels, the other with a walkway. Together with the parish church and the Minorite monastery it forms the so-called Stättl on the edge of the village.
