Schatzkammer Gurk

Gurk, Kärnten

Sacred art from the Romanesque to late Neoclassicism fills the treasury in the old provost's court of Gurk Abbey. Its oldest showpiece is the Magdalene panel from Weitensfeld, made around 1170 and the earliest stained glass in Austria. You will also find the Hölleiner crucifix, a winged altar of 1423 from Rangersdorf, the oldest surviving one in Carinthia, and Lenten veils from the 16th century.
