Römerpark Ruffenhofen

Ansbach, Bayern

Near Wittelshofen, the Roman fort of Ruffenhofen and large parts of its civilian settlement lie preserved underground and unbuilt, across some 70 hectares. The archaeological park takes in about 40 hectares of former farmland and forms part of the Upper Germanic-Rhaetian Limes UNESCO World Heritage site. The Limes itself runs about 2.2 kilometres away. You walk across open countryside with a Roman military site beneath it.
