Památník Joachima Barranda
Skryje, Středočeský kraj
Skryje is known to palaeontologists worldwide, and this small museum in a former school shows why. Most of the display is devoted to Joachim Barrande, the French engineer who discovered and described many Palaeozoic animals here. You will see fossils from Skryje and Týřovice, rocks typical of the local Cambrian, and a model of the growth of the trilobite Sao hirsuta, which made the village famous. A demonstration of how fossils may form is a nice extra.
