This is a former prison on Zamkowa Street, built in 1816 in the converted stables and coach house of the Kraków bishops' palace. Over the years it held January Uprising insurgents and independence activists, then resistance members seized by the Gestapo, and after the war soldiers of the Polish underground. The museum and education centre keeps that history alive within the very walls where it happened.
