At the edge of Weidebrunn near Schmalkalden, a historic blast furnace stands in the valley floor of the Schmalkalde. This technical monument recalls iron-making in an area known for iron and steel since the Middle Ages. A city bus runs out from Schmalkalden, and signed walking and cycling routes pass by.
