The museum fills the town's late Renaissance chateau, built in 1666, entered from Náměstí míru. Its collections of antiques and crafted, historical or artistic objects grew out of the 1895 Ethnographic Exhibition in Prague. They have been kept in the chateau since 1947 and centre on traditional crafts.
