Muzeum Przemysłu Naftowego i Etnografii w Libuszy

Libusza, małopolskie

Two themes share this small private museum in the village of Libusza, near Gorlice: the oil industry of the region and old country life. The oil section holds a kerosene distillery from 1856, a mine forge from the mid-19th century and models of oil wells from 1852 to 1939, along with ceramic kerosene jugs, maps, documents and drilling tools. A collection of some 500 short biographies of miners and oilmen adds a human side. The ethnographic section shows old furniture, costumes, farm tools, sewing machines, a gramophone and early radios. It was set up in 1977 by a couple who had themselves worked in the oil industry.
