Muzeum Powstania Chochołowskiego w Chochołowie

Chochołów, małopolskie

The museum occupies the farmhouse of a well-off farmer, Jan Bafia, built in 1798 and rebuilt in 1889. Its traditional layout survives, with a white room, a black room, a storeroom and a loft above it. The history exhibition covers the Chochołów uprising of 1846, with insurgent weapons, portraits of leaders and lists of participants, and a separate section on Seweryn Goszczyński. The ethnographic display shows everyday village life in the 19th century, with old furniture and household objects.
