Mutter-Beethoven-Haus
Koblenz, Rheinland-Pfalz
Maria Magdalena Keverich, who would become Ludwig van Beethoven's mother, was born here in 1746, in the old centre of Ehrenbreitstein across the Rhine from Koblenz. Her father was head cook to the Electors of Trier at nearby Schloss Philippsburg. The house dates from the 17th century, with a stone ground floor and a half-timbered upper storey, and now serves as a small museum recalling Beethoven and his family. An adjoining building holds a hall for chamber music.
