Museum Raiffeisenhaus Flammersfeld
Flammersfeld, Rheinland-Pfalz
Friedrich Wilhelm Raiffeisen lived and worked in this house from 1848 to 1852, while serving as mayor of Flammersfeld and founding a relief society for farmers, a forerunner of later cooperatives. The museum, themed "Living in Raiffeisen's Time", shows how people lived here then. The house itself is a half-timbered building from around 1800 with a half-hipped roof; in his day it came with a garden and a low crawl cellar beneath the kitchen.
