Museum Murtal

Judenburg, Steiermark

Up on the Falkenberg above Judenburg, some 3,000 to 4,000 people lived between the eighth and fifth centuries BC. This museum, opened in 2019, shows finds from the excavations of that Hallstatt-period settlement and from the burial mounds of the Aichfeld plain. It also explains the iron and trade behind the settlement's wealth, and the famous Strettweg cult wagon, found in a burial mound in 1851.
