Museum Künstlerkolonie Darmstadt

Darmstadt, Hessen

On Darmstadt's Mathildenhöhe, this small museum tells the story of the artists' colony that worked here from 1899 to 1914. It occupies the rebuilt Ernst-Ludwig-Haus, the group's former studio building designed by Joseph Maria Olbrich. A chronology in the foyer sets the scene, and three rooms show furniture and everyday objects by the members, along with the wooden interior of a 1908 house.
