Museum Großauheim

Hanau, Hessen

Steam engines, tractors and local industrial history fill this museum in Großauheim, a district of Hanau. It occupies a former power station and bathhouse from 1906, close to the village centre and a short walk from the railway station. The big hall shows how farming became mechanised, with a steam-driven traction engine and threshing machine, a steam tractor and a small combustion-engine tractor built by the Großauheim firm Josef Bautz. Further collections are devoted to the artists August Gaul and August Peukert, both from the village.
