Mittelalterliches Kriminalmuseum

Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Bayern

More than 2,000 exhibits trace over a thousand years of European law and justice, with a focus on the Middle Ages. The museum is housed in Rothenburg's former Commandery of the Knights of St John, built between 1393 and 1410 alongside St. Johannis church and remodelled in Baroque style in 1718. The collection began as a small private display known as the Rothenburg torture chamber.
