Marmorpalais

Potsdam, Brandenburg

This red-brick summer palace stands in the Neuer Garten on the shore of the Heiliger See. King Frederick William II of Prussia had it built in the early Neoclassical style between 1787 and 1793 as a private retreat. A round temple crowns the flat roof of the square, two-storey building and once served as a viewing point over the gardens. It was a military museum in communist times and has since been restored for visitors.
