Mahn- und Gedenkstätte Ravensbrück

Fürstenberg/Havel, Brandenburg

Ravensbrück was a Nazi concentration camp built exclusively for women, and this memorial stands on its grounds near Fürstenberg/Havel, about 90 kilometres north of Berlin. It commemorates the women held here between 1939 and 1945, as well as victims of neighbouring camps and of the SS forced-labour sites. Open as a memorial since 1959, it lets visitors walk the historic camp site and learn where the prisoners came from.
