Levi-Strauss-Museum
Buttenheim, Bayern
Levi Strauss was born in this house in Buttenheim, in Upper Franconia, long before his name became tied to blue jeans. The museum follows his path from a Jewish peddler's son to a prosperous textile manufacturer in America, and tells the story of the trousers that made him famous. It also looks at why jeans have come to stand for youth, freedom and individuality, with indigo and denim at the centre. The museum has won several international awards.
