Klöppelmuseum

Abenberg, Bayern

Abenberg has been a lace-making stronghold for 400 years, and this museum in the castle shows why. Exhibits come from Abenberg and elsewhere in Europe, including pieces worked in gold and silver, plus hand-made evening dresses, liturgical vestments, fans and handkerchiefs. Pattern books, lace letters and tools explain the techniques and how they changed. At a hands-on station you can try bobbin lace yourself.
