Ernst Wiechert, the German writer, was born in this forest lodge at Piersławek on 18 May 1887, the son of the local forester. The memorial room displays his books in German and in Polish translation, along with documents, commemorative prints and photographs. Two plaques on the outer wall mark anniversaries of his birth.
