Herzog Anton Ulrich-Museum

Braunschweig, Niedersachsen

This Braunschweig art museum holds around 4,000 works spanning 3,000 years of art history. It grew out of a ducal cabinet of art and natural history opened in 1754, among the first in Germany to admit the public. The main building of 1887 is in Italian Renaissance style, with an extension added in 2010. Visitors find Western old master paintings alongside decorative arts and sculpture.
