Henry van de Velde Museum

Chemnitz, Sachsen

This museum occupies a villa that the Belgian architect and designer Henry van de Velde planned in 1902 as a family home for the Chemnitz textile manufacturer Herbert Esche. On the ground floor, the dining room and music salon are largely furnished as they originally were. Upstairs, the permanent exhibition runs through former bedrooms and the bathroom, showing the wide range of van de Velde's work. The exhibits come from the Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz collections.
