In a listed half-timbered house in Volpertshausen, the museum presents the local history of the Hüttenberger Land. A second exhibition recalls 9 June 1772, when Goethe met Charlotte Buff in the house's ballroom, an encounter later worked into The Sorrows of Young Werther.
