Geomuseum Münster

Münster, Nordrhein-Westfalen

Fossils from many geological ages fill this university museum, which has been receiving visitors since 1824. Most finds come from Westphalia: Upper Cretaceous fish from the Baumberge hills and Sendenhorst, Ice Age mammals from caves and gravel pits, and Miocene finds from the Greek island of Samos. Remains of an Iguanodon dug up in the Sauerland are part of the collection too. Some of the sites are no longer accessible, which makes certain pieces especially valuable.
