This museum is about watching films: its own 165-seat cinema screens prints in nearly all analogue and digital formats, except 70 mm. The collection centres on German silent film, work by emigrant filmmakers, New German Cinema and Munich film, including Karl Valentin. Silent films are regularly shown with live music. There is no permanent exhibition.
