Färbermuseum Gutau

Gutau, Oberösterreich

Set in an 18th-century dyer's house, this museum tells the story of dyeing in the region, above all Mühlviertel hand block printing in indigo, recognised as intangible cultural heritage. The Zötl dyers' family worked here from 1868 until the last mistress closed the workshop in 1968. On show are tools, raw materials, textiles and documents. Across the street, the Zeugfärberei runs indigo-printing courses.
