Fälschermuseum Wien
Wien, Wien
This small private museum on Löwengasse is devoted to art forgery and the people behind it. On show are works by Han van Meegeren, who forged Vermeer, Tom Keating, who deliberately hid anachronisms in his paintings, and Konrad Kujau, creator of the fake Hitler diaries. Pieces by Elmyr de Hory, Eric Hebborn, Lothar Malskat and others sit alongside the stories of the forgeries and the sometimes dramatic lives of their makers.
