Dokumentationszentrum Alltagskultur der DDR

Eisenhüttenstadt, Brandenburg

Everyday life in East Germany is the subject here: how people lived, dressed and furnished their homes. The museum occupies a renovated former nursery in the centre of Eisenhüttenstadt, a model town begun in 1951. Its collection runs to about 170,000 items, from household goods and clothing to furniture, records, books and photographs, and the permanent exhibition was redesigned in 2012.
