Dinotherium-Museum

Eppelsheim, Rheinland-Pfalz

Fossils from the ancient Rhine are the focus of this small natural history museum in Eppelsheim. It shows original finds and copies of mammals recovered from local sands roughly 10 to 15 million years old. A highlight is the cast of a Deinotherium giganteum skull, discovered in a sandpit near the village in 1835, which gives the museum its name. It is housed in the village's old school building.
