Deutsches Schuhmuseum Hauenstein
Hauenstein, Rheinland-Pfalz
Set in a former shoe factory, this museum spreads over several floors to show how the shoe industry of the south-western Palatinate began and grew. It covers the technology of shoemaking as well as social and everyday history. The story runs from the first shoemakers in Pirmasens around 1800 to the Hauenstein factories, such as Seibel, founded in 1886.
