Deutsches Salzmuseum

Lüneburg, Niedersachsen

Salt was boiled here until 1980, and the museum now occupies the old Lüneburg saltworks site, in the boiling house of 1924. It tells the story of what was once central Europe's greatest industrial operation, and is an industrial monument in its own right. It won the Council of Europe Museum Prize in 1991.
