Bandwebermuseum
Wuppertal, Nordrhein-Westfalen
Wuppertal was once a centre of ribbon weaving, and this museum in the Gold-Zack building in Elberfeld's Nordstadt shows how it worked. You will see a range of looms, including a Jacquard loom, finished woven and braided goods, and a home weaver's room with a large loom. In 1913 around 8,000 ribbon looms were running in home workshops alone.
