Schatzkammer und Wallfahrtsmuseum

Right on the Kapellplatz in Altötting, a major pilgrimage town, this museum fills almost 1,000 square metres with works of art and devotional objects. The displays begin with the basics of pilgrimage, move on to the history of the Altötting pilgrimage, and end with the valuable art it has produced. A highlight is the Golden Rössl, a small French altar to the Virgin Mary made around 1400, a masterpiece of the goldsmith's craft.
