Rungehaus

The birthplace of the painter Philipp Otto Runge, in Wolgast's old town near the harbour, now houses a museum on his life and work. The listed house is largely preserved in its original form. Life-size copies of his paintings, whose originals hang in the Hamburger Kunsthalle, trace his path from Wolgast via Copenhagen and Dresden to Hamburg. A computer installation explains his colour theory, and a mosaic bench by the entrance recalls the fairy tale of the fisherman and his wife.
